Abductors keep mum 72 hours after aid workers’ capture

More than 72 hours after aid workers were kidnapped on their way to Damasak, in Borno State by Boko Haram insurgents, no word has been heard yet from the abductors.

The insurgents are yet to acknowledge that they actually took the aid workers, including a lady of “Action Against Hunger.”

One of the drivers, identified as Kashim, who was killed, was buried in Maiduguri, the state capital, on Friday amid wailing by relations.

“My name is Falmata Mohammed. I got married to my husband about nine years ago. We are in the 10th year of our marriage now. He has been working with this people for one year now. We have four children; one male and three females.

“We are pleading for his release. I am an orphan. I know what it takes to be an orphan. I had gone through so much tribulations in life,” said the wife of Ali Kyari, one of the abducted.

Kyari’s younger brother also spoke with Sunday Tribune. He said; “my name is Abubakar Kyari. One of the persons that are missing is my blood brother.

“We are begging the government to bring back our people. They are all family men. Some of them have two wives and as many as 10 children. Others have one wife and between four and five children.

“Now, those children might become orphans. We are begging the government to help us intervene and secure their release.”
