AAUA matriculates new City College students for degree programmes

ABOUT 265 students of the City College, Mararaba Nasarawa State, a school affiliated to Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State, have been cautioned and be prepared to abide by the principles and values of the institution.

The vice chancellor of the institution, Professor Olugbenga Ige,  who stated this during the matriculation of the students, advised the students to imbibe the spirit of hard work, discipline and  be committed to duties, as well as shun cultism and examination malpractices.

Ige who was represented by the dean of Education, AAUA, Professor Moshood Hassan, said that despite the fact the college had been authorised to run degree programmes in Education courses in affiliation with AAUA, the new students must be wary of any anti-social behaviour, saying the institution has zero-tolerance for cultism.

He explained to the matriculating students also that all the courses offered are fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC), while encouraging them to focus on their studies.

He assured that the institution would ensure a conducive learning environment for both learning and teaching.

He affirmed that the new students would be taking their lectures at the Mararaba campus of the college while the curriculum, examinations, grading and supervision of their coursework would be diligently carried out by officers of the university.

He urged them to guard their admission jealously, saying that they were among the few chosen after the fair, but rigorous screening of the many candidates who sought admission into the various courses of the institution.

He cautioned the new students against anti-social vices, saying the institution would not hesitate to terminate the studentship of offenders.

The registrar of the institution, Mr Gbenga Arajulu, who administered the matriculation oath on the new students, urged them to adhere strictly at all times to the oath.
