Aare Onakakanfo promises to continue foster unity of Yoruba race

THE Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Chief Gani Adams has promised to continue using his office to foster the unity of the Yoruba race, charging traditional rulers in the land to close ranks upholding the unity of Yoruba race.

Adams also promised to unite all traditional rulers and political leaders in the southwest irrespective of their political leanings for the interest and development of Yoruba race

Adams who stated this in Akure, Ondo state capital, during the 5th edition of the Oodua Progressive Union (OPU) World Congress, promised to continue to seek the unity of the Yoruba nation while he will not stop building bridges across Nigeria.

He said, “What we are trying to do now is to work together to unite our traditional rulers, political leaders, socio-cultural groups, in Yoruba land for a common goal”.

He stated that the purpose of the Congress was about the future of the Yoruba race, through building a formidable economic blueprint and speaking with common voices wherever we are across the globe.

He said “Our aims and objective is to promote our cultural identities and foster unity among the Yoruba race

“On several occasions, I never hide my feelings challenging all our governors, especially in the southwest to develop the tourist potentials of their various states. Many of you that stay in abroad can testify to this, you know how much you spend on visits to tourist and recreation sites.

“It may interest you to note that we have several tourists centres that are good enough to be turned to money-spinning ventures for Nigeria as a country”.

Similarly, the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi appealed to Ooni of Ife, Oba Eniitan Ogunwusi and Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi to work together for the unity of traditional rulers in Yoruba land saying that without unity, Yoruba race could not move forward.
