President Muhammadu Buhari
THE Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Dawud Akinola, has congratulated President Muhamamdu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, all elected governors, senators, members of the House of Representatives and members of the states’ Houses of Assembly in the South West on their victories at the just concluded general elections.
In a statement in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, Akinola said they all emerged through elections that had been rated as generally free, fair and credible by observers. He noted that with the peaceful conduct of the elections, democracy in the country was reaching maturity.
The Muslim leader charged the political officeholders to bring the zeal they all exhibited during their campaigns to bear on governance and work hard to take Nigeria to great levels.
He urged President Buhari not to rest on his oars on his fight against corruption and see to it that his second term should deliver dividends of democracy to all Nigerians.
According to him, the president’s reelection showed that with he was popular with the people with his dogged fight against corruption.
Akinola appealed to members of the ninth National Assembly to eschew selfishness and bitter politics and work in harmony with the executive arm of the government in the interest of peace and progress of the country.
