A Nigerian Family Devastated By The Sexual Orientation Of Their Daughter In Oyo State

Published by

The Dauda Family is a Muslim Family from Ibadan Oyo State Nigeria, on the 28th  of July 2021 has publicly disowned one of its daughters Bashirat Oyindamola  Dauda on the grounds of lesbianism.

Her late father was a devoted Muslim and a well-respected man in Ibadan Oyo state Nigeria. He sent Bashirat to Canada to further her education in 2017.

In 2018 she informed the family of her intentions to get married to one Mr Sina  Osunmakinwa a Nigerian living in Canada as well. The family blessed the union and wished them well.

In 2018 she lost her father and He was buried immediately according to Islamic rites.

Unfortunately in May 2021, Mr Sina Osunmakinwa called Mr Isiaka Dauda who is Bashirat’s uncle and the present head of the family. Mr Sina Osunmakinwa accused her of having an affair with another lady. when her uncle called to confirm the allegations, She didn’t deny them. The Uncle was in shock and disbelief because  Bashirat was a decent young lady. He wondered what came upon her and what caused the sudden change. All efforts to reconcile them proved abortive because Bashirat already made up her mind to continue the affair with the said lady there in Canada. she moved out of her matrimonial home and she cut off all communication with her family members.

After a series of consultations, the family has decided to disown her. According to Islam, lesbianism is evil and a form of spiritual attack. It is painful and sad that we are taking this decision as a family but she left us with no choice. We tried to advise her about her sexual orientation.

It is totally against our beliefs as Muslims to engage in homosexuality.

As of today we disassociate ourselves from her and she is no longer accepted in our family as a daughter, She can no longer refer to us as family members nor return to the family.
