Those who have concluded that Gongo Aso crooner is done with music, may begin to have a rethink as 9ice does not appear ready to quit the stage just yet. With new songs trending and new videos cooking, 9ice’s message to his critics remains “Don’t rule me out yet.”
With a new photo shoot that shows how much the singer is willing to keep putting himself out in a different way and a ninth studio album almost ready to be released, 9ice seems to have finally found its missing spark.
For years, the Living Things singer rules the airwaves with many hit tracks but, his popularity soon waned and he recoiled into his shell to strategise. His troubles were also said to have been compounded by his failure to get the nod of his political party in 2015 when he attempted to put his feet in the murky waters of politics. The singer had said then that he might not have got what he wanted, but he did make a bold statement about his political career, which according to him, was still gathering momentum.
He would later return with fresh singles that showed his fans and critics that he was not done yet with music despite his involvement in politics.
Stepping out boldly in mid-length dreadlocks with ponytails dabbed with a touch of gold dye, 9ice said music is not just about the music it is more about the looks. It is becoming clearer now that “Now music is not just about the music, it’s about the looks. You make a statement with everything you do because it is a ‘show up’ business.”
