99 stranded Nigerians in Niger Republic return home

A batch of 99 Nigerians stranded in the war-torn Niger Republic have been repatriated back to the country.

The returnees who were flown back to the country by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) touched down at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at about 1415 hours.

Speaking to the media at the Lagos airport, South West Zonal Coordinator of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, said the returnees were brought into the airport on a Boeing 737-500 chartered flight, Sky Mali, with registration number TZ-SMA

The returnees consisted of 15 adult females, including 2 with medical cases, and 76 adult males, 7 female children, 15 male children, 1 female, and infants, respectively, aboard the aircraft.”

Among the agencies that received the returnees at the Cargo Wing of Murtala Muhammad International Airport were NAPTIP, FAAN and Nigeria Immigration Service.
