The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye has advised the governor of the state, Biodun Oyebanji to beware of sycophants and mischief makers in the remaining years of his first tenure in the state.

Aribasoye stated this while giving his remarks during the visit of the governor to the assembly complex to give the state of the state address as part of activities marking his second anniversary in the state.

The speaker who explained that the governor has made positive impacts in the last two years at the helm of affairs, urged him to remain focused and be committed in consolidating the gains achieved so far by his administration.

He maintained that the second half of the administration would witness an increase in activities of sycophants, and those with bad intentions, adding that, ” there would be more lies and deceit at this time.”

Aribasoye reiterated the need for the people of the state to support the governor beyond 2026, arguing that his achievements in the last two years have shown that the governor is passionate about the development of Ekiti.

Advising the governor to avoid distractions towards a successful tenure, noting that, ” praise singers could be more dangerous than critics at this critical period.”

According to him, “As the speaker, I say you have done well. Your excellency, this is the midterm of your first term, the second term is coming. But I must also say, this half year may be different from the first part.

“I know your excellency to be a man of wisdom and I know you have a discerning spirit; this second term, there will be more lies, there will be more eye service now. It is time to avoid distractions.

“Please note that people who don’t have anything to offer will be the ones that will be shouting as if they love you.

“People who are adding value may not be the people making all the noise. They will be problem solvers rather than problem creators.

“Please take note of these, I see you moving Ekiti to greater heights but please, avoid distractions.”

He commended the governor for fostering and sustaining a cordial relationship with the legislature without fouling the principle of separation of power saying the governor’s support has aided the outstanding performance of the seventh assembly.
