At least 20 people, including children, have been killed after an armed gang attacked the town of Pont-Sondé in Haiti’s Artibonite region, approximately 71km north-west of Port-au-Prince.
Another 50 were injured as members of the Gran Grif gang rampaged through the area.
Local media reports suggest that more than 50 people may have been killed in what a government prosecutor described as a “massacre.”

The gang, known for its violent activities, has been involved in multiple crimes, including murder, rape, and kidnappings, according to a UN report.
This incident follows the deployment of a UN-backed policing mission led by Kenyan officers, aiming to restore order in Haiti, where gangs control large parts of the country.
Kenyan police are part of a 2,500-strong multinational force tasked with helping the Haitian authorities combat escalating gang violence.
The mission has been authorized for one year, with a review planned after nine months.
