Ninety-one indigenes of Kebbi drawn from across the twenty-one Local Government Areas of the state were the beneficiaries of the Micro Enterprise Enhancement Loan Scheme (MEELS) of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) 2024.
Addressing the beneficiaries, the Director General of NDE, Malam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo who spoke through the State Coordinator, Mr. Francis Amos Ambianto urged the beneficiaries to make use of the opportunity given to them to make fortunes for themselves.
He reiterated that the era of white collar jobs is over, not only in Nigeria but the world over, saying that the decision of the Federal government through the establishment of the NDE was burnout of passion for commoners in the society to be self-reliant and make fortune for themselves on the long run.
“Don’t depends on your relatives living in Dubai or else where to send you money to buy your wrappers and other needs, you can start something for yourselves from the little NDE will provide you today to make big money.”
“No one can underrate business if you can conduct it very well, the N20,000 you are giving now, if it’s well handled will lead you to big business fortune and you will begin to wonder yourself how N20,000 has propelled you to become something,” he said.
Alhaji Fikpo advised them to venture into small businesses like frying akara, puff puff, ground nut, sales of sugar cane, cola nut, soya milk among other petty menial businesses with focus and dedication they will be smiling to the banks.
Malam Abas Usman who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries congratulated those of them who had benefited from the loan, describing their efforts as dream come through, adding that no amount is too small to start a business, saying a little drop makes an ocean.
