8th National Assembly winds down Thursday as valedictory session holds in both chambers

The 8th National Assembly will formally wind down on Thursday ahead next week Tuesday’s official inauguration of the 9th Assembly.

Consequently, the valedictory session would hold simultaneously at both chambers of the assembly.

According to a notice issued on Tuesday in Abuja by the Acting Clerk of the House of Representatives, Mr P W Giwa, the session would commence by 10 am.

Those expected at the session include lawmakers, members of the diplomatic community and former presiding officers of the National Assembly.

The 8th National Assembly was officially inaugurated on June 9th 2015.

The inauguration of the 9th National Assembly has been fixed for Tuesday, June 11th, 2019 upon the receipt of the official proclamation by the president.
