A total of 86 suspected criminals have been arrested by operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command for committing various offences which include; kidnapping, armed robbery, political thuggery and attempted dumping of newly born babies.
This was disclosed by the PPRO, DSP Kamal Datti Abubakar while parading the suspects before Journalists at the Command headquarters in Bauchi declaring that the suspects were arrested in the last two weeks between 16th-27th June in continuation of the serious patrol and surveillance mounted by the Command’s Operation Puff-Adder.
The PPRO narrated that on the 12th of June one Tijjani Mohammed of Sabon Fegi, Lafiya in Nassarawa state reported that his elder brother, one Abdullahi Mohammed left home to Kano State for business but later called to inform him that he was kidnapped along with others near Gusau in Zamfara state with the kidnappers demanding the sum of N10 million as ransom.

He, however, said that after a thorough investigation, it was discovered that the said Abdullahi Mohammed who deals in vegetable oil had his business collapsed and therefore conspired with his friend, Haruna Saidu to stage the false kidnapping in order to force his family to pay the ransom.
He further said that on 8/06/2019 at about 17:40hrs, one Nasiru Sulaiman 26yrs and Sani Abdullahi 27yrs all local miners and residents of Filin Kokuwa mining site, Toro LGA, criminally conspired and kidnapped one Mohammed Sulaiman a 6 years old child in front of their House, took him to Toro L.G.A and kept him in custody of one Hajiya Aisha Mato, Staff of Social Welfare, Toro L.G.A, under a false claim that boy is Nasiru Sulaiman’s brother’s son, and left.
The PPRO said that while the negotiation was going, the custodian of the child became suspicious of the situation and therefore reported the matter to the Police which on receipt of the report traced the family of the victim and reunited him with his family and equally arrested both suspects who committed the crime and the suspects freely confessed to the crime.
Also on 23/06/2019 at about 2300hrs, the Command received credible intelligence that an armed robbery gang arrived Bauchi metropolis from Jos, Plateau State in a motor vehicle, Golf Passat model, blue in colour with registration No. NTT-640-AA with intent to rob innocent citizens of the State.
On receipt of the information, all tactical teams attached to Operation Puff Adder of the Command were drafted to be on watch of the said vehicle and fortunately, at about 2300hrs of the same date, the said vehicle was intercepted at AKY Makama Filling Station near Bayan Gari Area of Bauchi metropolis with following suspects inside the vehicle while others are still at large.
The suspects are, 22 years Aliyu Habibu of Bauchi Road, Jos, 23 years Auwal Hassan of Bauchi Road, Jos while exhibits recovered from them are:
One AK-47 Live ammunition, Six (6) cutlasses, Shop breaking instruments, Hacksaw, Hammer, Thirty-seven (37) wrappers and Three (3) Motor Vehicle Batteries.
Meanwhile, a discreet investigation led to the arrest of their accomplice in Bauchi one Alhaji Jamilu aka Jamilu Thinking who harboured them in Bauchi while the case is under investigation, while effort is on top gear to arrest the remaining suspects.
He added that during the period under review, intelligence-led raids were carried out on notorious Sara-Suka thugs terrorising Bauchi metropolis, by combined efforts of the Command Tactical Teams of Operation Puff Adder led to the arrest of a total number of sixty-six (66) notorious Sara-Suka thugs were arrested during the raids.
Exhibits recovered from the suspects are: Two Dane guns, Seven knives, Twenty (20) machetes, Four Swords
Two axes, Eight sticks, Two rods, Two horns and 123 wraps of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
Recovered exhibits during the operations by the Command included: One (1) Fabricated Pistol, three (3) cartridges, one live Ak47 ammunition, one (1) Golf Passat Vehicle, four (5) motorcycles, five (5) handsets, twenty six (26) cutlasses, Shop Breaking instruments, Hacksaw, Hammer, Thirty seven (37) wrappers, Three (3) Motor Vehicle Batteries, One hundred and forty two (142) bottles of codeine syrup and four hundred and ninety (490) assorted illicit drugs just as in the same vein, the Command rescued two (2) newly born babies.
