A total of 857 Corps members deployed to Gombe state for the Batch B stream 11 National Youth Service Corps mandatory one year service were on Tuesday sworn in to begin camping preparatory to the service.

The swearing-in ceremony was performed by the Gombe State Chief Judge, Justice Mu’azu Abdulkadir at the National Youth Service Corps members (NYSC) temporary orientation camp in Amada, Akko LGA of the state.
The Ag Chief Judge led the Prospective corps members in the oath of allegiance and symbolic signing of the oath by the 10 platoons, out of the 857 corps members 470 are males while 387 are females.
While reading the speech of the Director-General (DG) of NYSC, Brig. Gen.Shuaibu Ibrahim, Gombe State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs Ada Imoni commended the corps members for demonstrating discipline and enthusiasm since their arrival in camp.
He urged them to comply with all camp rules and regulations, and be obedient to their course officials declaring that “We will not hesitate to apply appropriate sanctions on airing corps members in line with the provisions of the NYSC bye-laws.
The DG also said that the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) at the camp is meant to prepare corps members for self-employment and wealth creation through vocational and entrepreneurial training.
“I urge you to avail yourselves of this opportunity instead of joining the ranks of unemployed graduates scouting for the rarely available white-collar jobs,” he said.
He further called on the corps members to ensure strict compliance with all the prevention protocols of covid-19 throughout the orientation period.
