KANO State Hisbah Board has refuted rumours making the round that the agency has arrested 78 young men and women who engaged in same-sex marriage at a restaurant in Nasarawa GRA, Kano.
The agency’s Commander General, Sheikh Dr Harun Muhammad Sina Ibn Sina, disclosed that those arrested including 47 men and 31 underage girls were found in compromising positions while using drugs in preparation for the commencement of a birthday party.
He described the reports of homosexuality as mere rumours while speaking to pressmen at Hisbah Headquarters, Sharada, Kano.
He further disclosed that the young men and women were arrested after a tip-off by good Samaritan’s..
He said the agency had commenced an investigation and would invite parents and guardians of those arrested for necessary action.
Sheikh Ibn Sina who described youths as leaders of tomorrow charged parents and guardians to be more vigilant due to the high level of moral decadence in the society.
The young men and women noted that they were invited to a birthday party at the restaurant without their parents’ knowledge.
One of them pleaded for leniency and promised not to engage in such acts.
