There is palpable tension and a mass exodus of residents in Kadarko community of Keana Local Government Area of Nasarawa, following the alleged invasion of the community by unknown gunmen, leading to the death of 73 cattle and displacement of two herdsmen.
Speaking to newsmen, a chief in the village, Ardo of Yamadaga, Husseini Adamu said ” in the morning around 6 AM, our children saw some Tiv people numbering up to 1,000 holding sophisticated weapons. They killed some cattle, went away with many.
“They even took motorcycles. Before I came, the place was already in chaos and we realized that at a spot they have killed 73 cows excluding the ones that they carted away with and also they went with two of our children”.
The State Commissioner for Police, Bello Ahmed shortly after visiting the scene of the incident confirm it.
He explained that “four out of the six herdsmen that were taken away have been found but we don’t know the whereabouts of the remaining two herdsmen”.

The commissioner added, 17 persons were injured as a result of the attack by the unknown gunmen.
CP Ahmed stated that investigations are still ongoing to unravel those behind the incident and called on residents of the area to go about their normal businesses without fear.
Meanwhile, tens of thousands of residents mostly of Tiv origin are leaving the community in droves for fear of reprisal attacks by the Fulani herdsmen.
One of the residents who spoke to Nigerian Tribune on anonymity, said, ” we have been seeing what is happening in other places, we cannot stay here otherwise they will come back and attack of and we are innocent”.
