700 repentant Boko Haram fighters signals end of terrorism in Nigeria ―Group

HUMAN Rights advocacy group, Centre for Social Justice, Equity and Transparency, on Tuesday, described the news of 700 repentant Boko Haram fighters as an end of terrorism in Nigeria.

According to the group, it is unprecedented for such huge number of terrorists to surrender anywhere in the world, and more terrorists will surrender in days to come. To come out in that amazing number to renounce terrorism is Nigeria’s ultimate and strategic victory in the anti-terrorism and counter-insurgency war.

Its Executive Director, Joyce Adamu, who stated this during a press conference in Abuja, said it was obvious that the terrorists could no longer withstand the sheer force of the Nigerian Troops, hence, the reason to lay down their arms and ammunition.

She said the counter-insurgency war has reached a stage where the sounds of guns or marching boots of soldiers would soon pave way to less combativeness in ending the terror war.

“The surrender has disproved the erroneous theory of veiled terrorism agents, detractors and unpatriotic Nigerians who have embarked on the campaign of calumny against Nigerian soldiers in the counter-insurgency war”, she added.

The CESJET boss said Nigeria has again recorded a break-through in her anti-terrorism campaigns in the North-East, pointing out that the efforts of the country’s courageous and tireless soldiers under the leadership of a brave and professional soldier, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai deserved special commendation.

It will be recalled that about 700 Boko Haram fighters, on Monday, laid down their arms and ammunition.
