660,028 PVCs uncollected in Ogun ― INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has said that about 660,028 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) are still uncollected by registered eligible voters in Ogun State.

This was disclosed by the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr Olusegun Agbaje, at the meeting with political parties leaders, held at the Conference Room of the Commission at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

He stated that the cards are all available at all the 20 local government areas for collection.

Agbaje also urged political leaders to encourage their members who are yet to register in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise to do so which will afford them the opportunity to perform their civic duties in the 2023 general elections.

He lamented that the state out of other states in the South-West had low level of participation in the exercise during the first quarter of the year.

“I want to strongly advise you to mobilise your followers and other eligible citizens to take advantage of the opportunity provided by the CVR to register as voters in other to be empowered to exercise their civic responsibilities in the 2023 general election and other future elections,” he added.

He, however, warned that anyone found violating any relevant section of the Electoral Law during the exercise by engaging in multiple registrations would be prosecuted accordingly.

The INEC boss equally admonished political leaders on the need to educate and mobilise eligible voters for effective participation in the electoral process through the conduct of lectures, seminars, conferences and conventions in line with the Electoral Act (as amended) and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
