63 male drug barons arrested in Nasarawa

ABOUT sixty (63) male drug barons in Nasarawa State have been arrested from July 2017 to date.

Nasarawa State commandant NDLEA, Mr Samaila Ethan revealed this on Tuesday during the  2018 United Nations International Day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking held in Lafia.

“The total of seizure within this period stood at three thousand six hundred and eighty-three point- five kilograms (3.683.45 kg) of narcotic drugs seized. While sixty- (63) drug barons were arrested fifty-four (54) were successfully convicted at the Federal high court, Lafia.

“Some sensational arrest were recorded within this period which involved the arrest of one baron in Karu with 2.873.88kg, of tramadol.

“Two other barons were arrested with 218.8kg of cannabis sativa in Akwanga with a white car while another was arrested with 286.5kg of cannabis sativa in Karu Laval government area of the state,” he reiterated.

Mr Ethan also said that the command has rehabilitated 180 drug user in its counselling program within this period.
