$60bn loan deal: African leaders mortgaging lives of generations unborn ― ADI

Published by

In reactions to $60billion loan deal African leaders recently signed by African leaders with China, the African Global Development For Positive Change Initiative (ADI) has accused African leaders of indirectly mortgaging the lives of generation unborn.

It said such an amount should have been invested in Africa’s economy to create jobs for unemployed youths instead of the loan.

ADI President Dan Mbachi made the assertion in an exclusive interview with Nigerian Tribune on Thursday in Abuja.

Speaking in an exclusive interview Mbachi said “I find it very difficult to agree with African leaders to sign several loan deals with developed countries.

According to him, through direct investment, China can help Africa to resuscitate power to create sustainable energy for industries.

“…Every year, our Children are graduating without jobs, what plan do they have for African future?” he queried.

He opined that rather than churning out loans for Africa that has little or no economic impact in the lives of Africans, investment on power will be one of the priorities in African economy.

“Nigeria as a giant of Africa has a big role to play, the Federal Government needs to be very serious on power for stable investment to create a job for people. Take for example, unemployment and means of good livelihood encourage illegal migration that leads to the death of Africans, slavery and tortures in their quest to seek for greener pasture in Europe and other developed World.

Direct investment is the best way to go rather than a loan deal,” he said.
