54-year-old man bathes, kills neighbour with hot water

The Lagos State Police Command has begun investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in the Aguda area of Lagos.

The deceased man, Oposanwo Gbenga died last Saturday at the hospital, where he was rushed to after a fellow tenant poured hot water on him.

The deceased and the fellow tenant, Segun Mopederun were both, until the incident, residents of 3 Iyanu Oluwopo Street,  County area of Ogba Aguda, Lagos State.

The duo were engaged in an argument when Segun reportedly poured hot water on the deceased Gbenga, who had reportedly abandoned the argument and was doing another thing.

The image maker in charge of the state police command, Bala Elkana confirmed the arrest of Segun in a statement on Sunday

Elkana said: ” On 16/11/19 at about 06 30hrs, One Segun Mopoderun ‘m’, 54yrs old of No 3, Iyanu Oluwopo Street, off County, Ogba-Aguda Agege allegedly poured hot water on one Oposanwo Gbenga ‘m’, 58yrs old, of the same address, during an altercation between them.

“The victim was rushed to a hospital for treatment where he later died. The corpse is deposited at Ikorodu General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.”

The Lagos police image maker also added that: “The suspect has been arrested by Homicide detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department Yaba.”

The Lagos police spokesperson also added that ” Investigation is ongoing ” and assured that ” Suspect will be charged to Court.”
