5000 3G/YESSO beneficiaries receive credit cards in Gombe

Not fewer than 5000 beneficiaries in Gombe state have received their credit cards as the State Governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya flagged off the 3G/ YESSO programme in Kwami, Dukku LGA of the state on Wednesday.

The Governor expressed confidence that the Gombe Goes Green (3G ) project will help in mitigating the effects of desertification being experienced in some parts of the state in addition to creating jobs for the people particularly the youths and women.

The Governor stated this while speaking at the flagging off of the issuance of ATM cards to beneficiaries of the Public Workfare (PWF) and Special Grant Transfer (SGT) of the Youth Employment and Social Support Operations, YESSO held at Malam Sidi and Dukku in Kwami and Dukku Local Government Areas respectively said that the deployment of YESSO beneficiaries to the Gombe Goes Green project will also help in the fight against climate change, a challenge confronting the world today.

The over 27,000 beneficiaries selected through Community Based Targeting (CBT) programs across the state are expected to nurture the trees being planted in their respective areas to maturity.

This initiative, the Governor observed, will help to regenerate the environment and also provide jobs to the teeming unemployed youth, the poor as well as the vulnerable in the society and maintained that his administration will do everything necessary to seek the extension of the YESSO  programme for the overall good and benefits of the people of the state.

In Dukku,  the Emir, Alhaji Haruna  Abdulkadir Rasheed, commended the foresight and political will of Governor Inuwa Yahaya in initiating and executing programmes and projects that have a direct bearing on the people,  promising to safeguard and maintain the laudable projects executed for the betterment of the citizenry.

“This is the sixth time Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya is coming to Dukku within six months of assuming office, with each visit coming with a people-oriented project”, an elated Emir said.

The Sarkin Bai of Gombe, Ambassador Ibrahim Yerima Abdullahi, could not agree less on the importance and benefit of the programme while speaking on behalf of the people of Kwami Local Government as he commended the forthrightness of the Governor,  pledging the support and cooperation of the people of the area to his administration.

2667 people will receive their credit cards in Kwami while over 3000 are to benefit in Dukku with over 200 million Naira disbursed to the beneficiaries in the two local government areas as contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to the Governor.
