FIVE suspected kidnappers at Dutsen Makurd, Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, were killed on Monday, after they engaged troops of 33 Brigade, Nigerian Army, in a gun battle.
The troops, deployed in Forward Operation Base (FOB), Ningi, came across the suspected kidnappers while on a routine patrol.
The suspected kidnappers first opened fire on the troops and that led to exchange of gunfire, with five kidnappers killed at the end of the duel.
Acting spokesman of the army, Colonel Sani Usman, confirmed this, adding that the patrol team recovered three dane guns and other weapons from the suspects.
He said a suspected Boko Haram terrorist, Adamu Nuhu, was also arrested at Kwaya Kusar Local Government Area of Borno State, following a tip-off by well meaning Nigerians.
According to him, three women suspected to be spouses of the wanted Boko Haram terrorists and logistics suppliers were equally arrested at Miringa market by vigilantes in the town.
He said the vigilantes later handed the arrested persons over to troops and were being investigated.
