The explosion occurred at a gas shop when owners of the business were offloading cooking gas into the shop.
An unconfirmed report had it that the explosion might have started from a spark from a mobile phone, which was being used by an unidentified person.
The director of the Lagos State Fire Service, Rassak Fadipe confirmed the incident to Tribune Online
