Barrister Akeremale, a retired Commissioner of Police (CP), who told Tribune Online on phone in Abuja, said Buhari administration has achieved tremendously, especially in its quest to fight corruption, urging the government, however, not to make the fight against corruption a selective.
He explained that there could be no intellectual development when there is chaos, and urged the Federal Government to focus more on the security with a view to protecting lives and property
According to him, “well the most important thing is stability because when where is peace, development will follow. When there is chaos nobody can sit down, there can be no intellectual development. People will be running helter-skelter. To some extents, the government has achieved a bit of stability.
“In the area of corruption, the government has achieved a lot because people are not using the public funds for personal gains anymore. When the government releases money it has to be spent on that particular purpose, if the money is diverted, such country cannot make any progress, so the government is trying in its fight against corruption, but it should not make it a selective, this is an area it needs to be addressed,” He advised.
The legal practitioner further urged the Federal Government to always establish a case against any perceived criminal before going into the press, saying: “government should not just make allegations and send it to media houses for publication when you have not found out what actually happens, that area needs to be addressed too.”
