AS the 38th Kaduna International trade fair opens in Kaduna on Saturday, the State Government has assured investors the enabling environment to carry out their businesses even as it vowed to create more jobs for the teeming unemployed youths.
Governor Nasir el-Rufai gave this assurance while speaking at the opening ceremony of the International Trade Fair.
Represented by his deputy, Architect Barnabas Bala Bantex, he said the trade fair was not only a venture for one to showcase his business but it is also an avenue to make friends and expand one’s business.
To this end, he maintained that his government had created the enabling environment for investors to strive by removing multiple taxation which has hampered the growth of many businesses.
He explained that in furtherance of the state’s commitment in boosting economic activities, it has set up the Kaduna Investment Promotion Agency which is a one-stop shop for investments in the state.
Earlier in his address, The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Okechukwu Enelamah praised the Kaduna State Government for creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
He also praised the Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KADCIMMA) for being steadfast in staging the annual Kaduna Trade Fair, while appealing to the Kaduna State Government to consolidate on gains of security achievements to give confidence to more investors.
In her welcome address, President of KADCIMMA, Dr. Muheeba F. Dankaka advised the Kaduna State government to speed up development in the state through Public Private Partnership.
“We commend Governor el-Rufai for creating a conducive environment for our businesses to thrive. We intend to also consolidate on the efforts of the government, while drawing their attention to the theme of this year’s fair; ‘promoting Public Private Partnership as Panacea for accelerated Growth and Development’ and we are ready to partner government on this,” she said.
After the official opening ceremony, the Deputy Governor cut the ceremonial tape and ushered in guests to some selected stands.
The Fair which attracts exhibitors from all the states of the federation and from abroad will be held from February 24 to March 5, 2017.
