A 35-year-old man, who allegedly defiled a 5-year-old girl in the Bariga area of Lagos State has been arrested by the police.
The image maker in charge of the state police command, Bala Elkana confirmed the arrest of the suspect to Tribune Online and added that he had confessed to the crime.
The Lagos police image maker said, “On 05/11/2019 at about 1615 hours, Bariga Police Station arrested one Bunmi Adeyemi ‘m’ 35years of age of No 8 Alhaji Alake Street Bariga for defiling a five-year-old girl (name withheld).”

Elkana added that “The suspect was arrested by a team of detectives from the Family Support Unit. He confessed to the commission of the crime.”
According to the police spokesperson “The victim was taken to Mirabel Centre Ikeja for medical treatment and forensic examination. The Commands Gender Unit has taken over the investigation.”
He assured that the police would ensure that the cased is properly investigated and ensure that “the suspect will be charged to court.”
