35 Persons arrested for drug offences in Anambra

The 35 drug offenders were arrested during a two day joint raid on eight hot spots by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the Military, Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Prisons Service and Nigeria Immigration Service.

The spots raided include the Nnewi hundred Foot Road, Ihiala Motor Park, Aba park, Obosi, Okija, Okpoko, Owerri Park, Lagos park and Benin park.

Exhibits seized include six point three four three two kilogrammes of Cannabis sativa, nine point four grammes of Cocaine, and four point three grammes of Heroine.

Reacting to the arrests and seizure, the State Commander of NDLEA, Mr. Sule Momodu said the joint raid has come to stay as the agency and its sister agencies will from time to time clamp down on drug peddlers to ensure the state is free of illicit drugs especially in the parks.

He commended the State Governor, Willie Obiano for giving them the needed logistics to do the work for the benefit of the society.

Mr. Momodu disclosed that those arrested will be screened and the innocent ones among them will be left off the hook while the guilty suspects will be charged to court.

The Commander advised parents to always monitor the activities of their children so as to know when they have deviated.

He cautioned all illicit drug peddlers and abusers to leave the state because the Agency is all out in its  onslaught against hard drugs dealers.
