30-yr-old student needs N14m to survive kidney problem

Published by

Mrs Grace Atewojaye looked quite disturbed when she spoke with the Nigerian Tribune. For almost a year, the health of her son, Atewojaye Muyiwa Emmanuel, deteriorated and after diagnosis, it was discovered that he had kidney disease.

In a letter addressed to the Editor, Nigerian Tribune and signed by Dr Adepeju Oti, the executive director of Global Youth Leadership and Girl-Child Foundation, the foundation stated, among other things, that Atewojaye Emmanuel “has already undergone about 16 sessions of haemodialysis which costs N50,000 per session. He is expected to undergo at least 3 sessions of haemodialysis per week for him to stay alive until he is able to get a kidney transplant that will cost N10,000,000 conservatively as this is exclusive of flight tickets for him and 2 people, accommodation, feeding and visa.

“Although friends and family have been giving their financial and moral support generously, it is not enough to sustain his medical expenses.” She added that the money needed would be about N14, 000, 000.
