THREE people were on Wednesday afternoon injured in a gas explosion which occurred at Four Point Hotel at Oniru area in Lagos State.
Goods worth millions of naira and vehicles were destroyed in the explosion which reportedly occurred while some welders were carrying out repair works in the hotel.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the incident and added that the condition of one of those injured was critical and that he had been taken to a private hospital in the area.

LASEMA also said that two other injured victims of the explosion were rushed to the Lagos Island General Hospital.
The agency said: “On getting to the scene of the incident, a gas cylinder was said to have exploded within the vicinity of the hotel.”
“Further investigations revealed that the gas cylinder used by welders working on the hotel premises exploded due to a leakage in one of the gas cylinder hoses.
Three people sustained severe injuries as a result of the blast and two have been rushed to the Lagos Island General Hospital for intensive care by LASEMA Ambulance Unit while one was rushed to a nearby private hospital.”
The agency also confirmed that several cars and hotel room windows were shattered as a result of objects flung by the blast.
