3 docked for allegedly stealing iPhone 6

THREE persons–Wara Suleiman, Adeize Anata and Taiye Oyinlola–were on Wednesday arraigned in an Ilorin Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing an iPhone 6.

The accused were arraigned on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and theft, contrary to Sections 97 and 287 of Penal Code Law.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge levelled against them.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Gbenga Ayeni told the court that the complainant, Olaoye Olatomi, said that her phone was stolen by an unknown person in January at Tanke area of  Ilorin.

“Olatomi said that she tracked the phone through MTN office and when the result of the tracking information came out, it was discovered that the accused persons conspired and stole her iPhone 6 valued at N135,000.

“All efforts made to recover the iPhone 6 by the police proved abortive,’’ he said.

Ayeni said that the accused confessed to have committed the crime during the investigation, but could not give a satisfactory explanation about the phone’s whereabouts.

He also objected to bail for the accused and urged the court to remand them in prison custody pending the determination of the case.

But the defence counsel, Suleiman Nasir, prayed the court to admit the accused to bail pending the determination of the allegations against them.

Magistrate Michael Kamson granted the accused bail in the sum of  N100,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case till July 11 for further mention
