Federal School of Surveying will on Thursday present not less than 2,930 students for various academic awards of the institution, ranging from National Diploma, Higher National Diploma programme to Post-Graduate Diploma in surveying and in other allied academic and professional programmes run by the Ivory Towers established in 1908 in Nigeria.
The Rector of the institution, Dupe Nihinlola Olayinka, (an associate professor) , gave the hint on Monday at a press conference organised to kick start the long a waited convocation ceremony.
According to her, the set of students to be presented for this year’s graduation were students who had completed their academic and professional programmes in the institution from 2009 to date. She said the institution could not hold graduation in the last 10 years due to socio and economic situation beyond the pervious management’s control.
She lamented that poor funding was the major factor responsible for the set back being experienced by the institution of late, as she appealed to the authority concerned to extend the TETFund scheme to the school.
According to her, if disbursement of overhead allocation from the federal government to the school becomes regular and improved with the provision of TETFund, the development would a long way to face lift the school even in terms of academic progress and capacity building of the staff.
