$29.9 billion loan: Governor Bello drums support for presidency

Published by

The Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, has urged the National Assembly to approve the proposed loan by the Federal Government in order to help develop the infrastructure of the nation.

The governor who spoke through his spokesman, Kingsley Fanwo, said the loan would herald a new infrastructural horizon in the country, insisting that for the nation to achieve its goals of industrialisation, infrastructure must be developed for rapid development.

He said, “I am aware that the National Assembly is considering ironing out some grey areas in the deal. This is good for the nation. The President has done what is right by proposing such a facility to rebound the nation’s economy through infrastructural development.

“With an unquestionable integrity, Nigerians have great faith in the person of Mr. President to midwife a new Nigeria of change, hope and unprecedented transformation.

“We therefore urge the National Assembly to see the facility as one of the ways through which the nation can find its route back to greatness and economic rediscovery.”

The governor hailed Buhari’s efforts at driving the economy out of recession, urging Nigerians to join hands with the present administration to liberate Nigeria from the effects of corruption which brought the nation on its knees in the past.

Bello expressed confidence that with ongoing efforts to fix the country’s infrastructural deficit and improve power, Nigeria can rise from its present position to that of respectability in the African continent.

He said the present challenges faced by the nation were temporary and will soon be resolved.

The governor said he would work strongly with the media to inform, enlighten and educate the people of the state on the programmes and activities of his government, referring to the media as “indispensable partners in his New Direction Agenda bond with the people of Kogi State.”
