24 years old driver arraigned in court for crushing 14 years old boy to death

A 24-year old driver, identified as Ishola Wasiu was on Wednesday arraigned  before a Magistrates’ Court, sitting in Osogbo for allegedly crushing to death a 14year boy to death, while driving a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV).

The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Adekunle Rasaq informed the court that the accused person drove a Lexus RX 330 model recklessly on the public highway on the 28th of August, 2017 at Kajola area of Osogbo.

He explained that the accused person drove recklessly without obeying the traffic rules.

Rasaq said the offences committed by the accused contravened section 81(1) and punishable under section 18 of the Road Traffic Act Cap. 115 Vol. II, Laws of Osun State, Nigeria, 2003.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the allegations leveled against him.

A defense counsel, Chief Bola Abimbola humbly applied for the bail of the accused in the most liberal terms.

In her ruling, Magistrate Fatimah Sodamade granted the accused person bail in the sum of #500,000 with one surety in the like sum and thereafter adjourned the case till October 18, for mention.
