23-yr-old man allegedly stabs parents to death, injures sister in Lagos

The police in Lagos State are on the trail of a 23-year-old man, Michael (surname withheld), who allegedly stabbed his parents to death on Tuesday.

The incident occurred on Alhaji Afeez Gbadamosi Street in the Ejigbo area of Lagos in a yet-to-be ascertained circumstance.

The suspect reportedly stabbed his parents and younger sister. While the parents died before help could reach them, the younger sister survived the attack.

Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the suspect, who is on the run, might have been provoked by an admonition from his parents to turn a new leaf.

The parents were said to have been bothered over the rustication of the suspect from two universities.

A source at the Ejigbo police station who pleaded anonymity assured that the suspect would be apprehended.

The police source also stated that the suspect is thought to have been under the influence of hard drugs when he committed the crime.

The source said: “Our DPO was there immediately the incident occurred and the bodies of the parents have been evacuated and deposited at the mortuary.

“People around the area complained about the boy’s behaviour and they spoke well of his parents.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bala Elkana, confirmed the incident and added that the police were already on the trail of the suspect.

Elkana said: “We have launched a manhunt for him and we will surely get him.”
