22 year-old painter commits suicide in Onitsha

RESIDENTS of No. 27B Enweonwu Street, Inland Town area of Onitsha, the commercial city of Anambra state, were yesterday jolted by the discovery of a hanging corpse of a 22-year-old man who committed suicide the previous night inside his own room apartment.

According to the source, the deceased who was identified as Peter Udekwe, a painter, was residing in that rented room apartment until the previous night when he hung himself inside his room without anyone knowing.

It was gathered yesterday morning when his door remained shut, other residents of the particular compound suspected an abnormality and after knocking several times on his door without response, decided to break it, only to find his lifeless body hanging on the iron objects.

Efforts to get in touch with the Divisional Police Officer, DPO at Inland Police Division, proved abortive as his phone rang without response, as at the time of filing this report, but a security personnel who preferred anonymity, simply confirmed the incident and described it as very unfortunate.
