206bn loan: Gov Kefas not interested in looting Taraba treasury, commissioner affirms

Taraba state Commissioner for information and re-orientation, Mrs. Zainabu Usman Jalingo, on Thursday said, Governor Agbu Kefas has no interest in looting the state treasury.

Usman told Tribune Oline that the governor is focused on building a new Taraba of greatness that all Nigerians would prefer to visit as a home, and the citizens’ lives would be transformed.

The commissioner while reacting to the petition against Governor Kefas’s 206 billion naira loan request by one Abdullahi Usman, she explained that the governor’s borrowings were substantially dedicated to capital projects and human development in line with the fiscal responsibility act.

“Governor Agbu Kefas is not interested in looting the Taraba state treasury. He is focused to ensure that the dream to build a new Taraba of greatness and improve the lives of the residents is actualized.

“The 206 billion naira loan request is not to enrich himself and his family. The borrowings are substantially dedicated to capital projects and human development in line with the fiscal responsibility act.

“An attempt to stop the loan by any citizens is an attempt against the development of Taraba state which the citizens did not aspire for.

“The desire of the governor is to ensure that, every citizen fee the real impact of good governance. His target is to reposition governance where the government would be executing transformational projects on a frequent base.

“The developmental steps taken so far by the governor in Education and Agriculture is a clear indication that he is out to ensure that Taraba is ranked among the top best Nigeria states in all aspects of life,” the commissioner explained.
