2027: Why APC is afraid of Makinde — Dare Adeleke

Caretaker chairman of Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),  who is also the

Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Federal Constituency Matters, Hon. Dare Adeleke, has declared that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is afraid of Governor Makinde’s influence ahead of the 2027 election.

He also criticised the APC over comments credited to members of the APC  regarding Governor Makinde’s potential candidacy in the 2027 national elections, adding that this was coming after Makinde had publicly stated that he possesses the necessary capacity to run for president.

In an interview over the weekend, Adeleke said, “The APC is in mortal fear of a potential Makinde ticket under the PDP. They know his candidacy could spell doom for their disastrous administration, arguably the most disappointing government in Nigeria’s history.”

He added, “Why wouldn’t they be afraid? Governor Makinde has consistently outperformed them in development and governance. Tinubu’s leadership appears  clueless and  has been inflicting pain; gnashing of teeth, poverty, hunger, and despair.”

Adeleke praised Makinde’s developmental strides, contrasting them with what he described as the APC’s glaring failure.

He said, “Look at Oyo State under Makinde. All sectors are thriving. He has built and rehabilitated roads not just in the capital but across the entire state. He introduced a seamless and affordable transportation network that rivals systems in other parts of the world, despite the fuel price hike caused by Tinubu’s administration.

“Education is flourishing again. Salaries are paid promptly. Oyo boasts one of the cheapest food supplies nationwide due to massive agricultural investments. Makinde has provided housing for low-income earners, enhanced healthcare, and ensured remarkable improvements in security. His impact is real, not mere billboard propaganda and paid media hype.”

Adeleke emphasised that Nigerians are watching and that they know who truly has the capacity to lead them. “Makinde saying he has what it takes to lead this country is simply stating the obvious. The APC’s panic is understandable. They know 2027 will not be a walk in the park.”

He continued, “I stand firmly with my governor, His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde. He’s young, vibrant, and intellectually capable. Nigerians are tired of geriatrics who seek power only to enrich themselves and their cronies. This country is no longer a national cake to be shared among a small clique of family and friends. We will checkmate the APC with our best; and if that best is Makinde, I’m truly sorry for them.”

Adeleke concluded by saying: “Let it be known that if Makinde runs for president, he will win. His record and the goodwill he enjoys from the people yearning for real change, not the empty slogan sold to the people by APC. The people are now on high alert. Tell them that Nigerians are wiser now.”
