2027: Group woos Shehu Buba to run for Bauchi governorship seat

The Senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District of Bauchi State, Sen Shehu Buba Umar has been called upon to as a matter of necessity, express interest in the 2027 gubernatorial seat.

The call was made by the Coalition of Civil Society Organisations, political groups and Non-Governmental Organisations of Youths and Women wing for good governance and transparency in Bauchi state under the platform of Shehu Buba Umar Vanguard (SBUV) during a press conference held in Bauchi on Friday.

This is coming though the next general election is 3 years ahead and active politicking is still banned under the relevant electoral laws of the country.

Leading the Coalition, Director-General of SBUV, Engr Ishaq Dabo opined that the time to start the movement for 2027 is now considering that the earlier the better for mobilization.

According to him, “The only politician in Bauchi state who can uproot the PDP and its structure is Sen Shehu Buba Umar considering his political pedigree over the years coupled with his acceptability and friendly disposition.”

He added that “We are confident of his capability and acumen to lead Bauchi State to higher heights and more development than what is obtainable presently.”

Ishaq Dabo further said that “Within his short stay in the NASS, Shehu Buba Umar has demonstrated readiness to introduce good political leadership and responsibility to the people. He is a grassroots mobilizer who is always available to his people across the state.”

According to him, “Though he is representing the Bauchi South Senatorial District at the upper Chambers of the NASS, his benevolence spread across the state. His friends and political associates are all over and cut across political and religious interests.”

He highlighted some of the achievements of Sen Shehu Buba Umar which include various federal projects such as health facilities, roads, water projects, housing and most importantly, human development.

Ishaq Dabo then declared that “We are strongly calling on him to heed our call and declare his interest to aspire for the seat. If he refuses to do so, we will drag him before the courts to compel him to do so.”
