2027: Atiku remains best candidate — Emeka Kalu

As 2027 draws closer with politicians gearing up to be elected into the different positions, the President of ECK Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Dr Emeka Kalu has singled out the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar as the best candidate who could salvage the country from its current economic comatose.

Kalu in a statement he signed, and issued to the media, lamented how the country’s economy was speedily decaying at an alarming rate with the present government unable to offer a reliable solution to save the situation.

According to Kalu, only Atiku remained a rational game changer, an intelligent figure, with commendable scorecards in leadership performance and achievements that could save the country and the economy from total collapse.

The ECK President regretted the wastefulness of the country’s natural resources due to what he called the lack of government exposure and commitment to explore and maximise them for greater economic development.

He expressed that poor operationalisation mechanisms needed to achieve optimum results had always stood to hinder the growth of the nation’s oil and gas economy with no reasonable input by the government to address the situation.

He, therefore, urged the electorate and political leaders to embrace the politician to change the current sordid narrative.

He urged Nigerians to stop giving support to corrupt politicians for self-gains, admonishing them to support selfless, capable, trusted and competent hands like Atiku to return the country to its former envious position.

His words: “The sorry state of our economy must remind all Nigerians that we are already in the regime of failed leadership. The heights of hunger, cost of living, naira value depreciation, insecurity, nepotism, treasury looting, tariff hike, unemployment and other prebendary characters have drastically taken us backwards with no hope of recovery except the citizens with their lawful mantles of civic rights rise by supporting a fair and competent political leadership come 2027.

“When it comes to leadership, especially one charged with the responsibility of presiding over a nation of over 200 million citizens, it takes a man of rapt wisdom, character nicety, sound education, articulate reasoning and that of detribalised instincts to be able to mount the podium of power and govern in accordance with the people’s expectations.

“Without doubt, it takes a brain and silent achiever like Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to have Nigeria’s decaying economy returned to life.”

He frowned at how electoral malpractices had continued to rob Atiku from taking the leadership position in the country, insisting that he had always had the popular support of Nigerians.

Kalu recalled that in Atiku’s days as the Vice President of Nigeria, the nation recorded tremendous economic liberalisation, trade investments, creation of mass employment and a host of other feasible impacts.

Besides, he equally decried the lack of transparency on the part of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led Federal Government in addressing the new subsidy regime as one of the challenges confronting the nation.

“With Atiku Abubakar in charge, there is no way this country will not record accelerated economic advancement.

“This piece is not a campaign nor a political propaganda meant to mislead the public, but realities whose impacts cannot be deleted beyond space and time,” he said.
