2025 is full of hopes, abundance for Nigerians — NBC President

President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC), Rev. Dr. Israel Adelani Akanji,  has urged Nigerians to remain hopeful for a better Nigeria starting in 2025, as God is prepared to intervene and bring positive change.

He made the call in his New Year 2025 goodwill message.

Taking his texts from Isaiah 52:1-2 and Isaiah 43:18-19, the NBC President expressed optimism, stating, “In spite of the current situation in the country, there is hope—hope for a better Nigeria.”

He encouraged Nigerians to forget the challenges of 2024 and focus on the new year with high expectations for positive developments.

Israel Akanji explained that while the two scriptures may seem contradictory, they are actually complementary, emphasizing and assuring that there is hope for a better Nigeria.

He noted that, just as the Israelites in the wilderness thought all hope was lost and nothing good could happen to them again, God intervened and turned their situation around because they believed and had faith in Him.

Akanji urged Nigerians to focus on building a greater and better country, rather than dwelling on the past to judge the present and the future, expressing confidence that God is still capable of transforming the nation.

“This year, our call is that we should all put our trust in God. Our God is a God of history—He did it in the past for the Israelites, and He will do it again for us in Nigeria,” he assured.

The NBC President concluded his message by stating, “This year is your year of increase and abundance. All you have to do is trust Him, be of good cheer, and remain hopeful.

“Just as He did it for Abraham and Sarah, even at their advanced ages, He will do it for Nigeria.”
