Nigerian singer, Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has won the Best African Act of the Year at the 2024 MOBO Awards held in Sheffield, United Kingdom, on Wednesday night.
He defeated his colleagues, Davido, Ayra Starr, Rema, Grammy-winning South African singer, Tyla and others.
Asake now joins the list of 2Baba, D’Banj, Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy as Nigerians who have won Best African Act at the MOBO Awards.
In the same vein, another Nigerian singer, Limoblaze won the Best Gospel Act at the award ceremony.
Similarly, British-Nigerian rapper, Tunde also won the Best New Artist award.
British rapper, Central Cee topped the winners’ chart with two awards: Best Male Act and Song of the Year for ‘Sprinter’ with British-Nigerian rapper, Dave.
Drake and 21 Savage were the joint winners of the Best International Act award while Soul II Soul was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
