2022: Tambuwal presents N188bn budget to Sokoto Assembly

Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, had on Monday, presented the state annual budget for the year 2022 fiscal year to the state house of assembly.
While presenting the budget which he tagged “Budget of Accomplishment and Sustainable Development”, the governor announced that the budget is estimated to amount to N188,129,495,847.68k, with 59 percent dedicated to capital projects, while recurrent gulp 41 percent accordingly.
He explained that the 2022 budget when approved will focus on the completion of most ongoing developmental projects across the state as well as the initiation of the various new project.
According to the governor, the sectorial allocation for the Year 2022 shows that Education has the highest vote of over 37 Billion naira making up of 20 percent of the total budget.
This is followed by Health with N28,806,855,774.52k as well as Agriculture which will also gulp N22,551,438,538.42 of the total budget representing 15 and 11 percent respectively.

He also disclosed that Infrastructure will gulp a total sum of 18,186,537,119.57 while over 81 Billion naira was allocated to other ministries.

He highlighted some of the ongoing developments in the state will be completed in the proposed budget includes the construction of a third flyover at Gidan Man Ada in Sokoto metropolis, completion of two other ongoing flyover bridges and completion of urban renewal roads.

He further disclosed that construction of dual carriage road from New Sokoto City to Denge Shuni area of the state of the state

Others include Kebbe Bridge, Romon Sarki Bridge, Birgingo Bridge, Silame-Gande Road among others, which were also included in the budget with part payment.

While commending the corporation extended to his administration by the house of assembly, he calls on the residents and other stakeholders to support the government in the fight against banditry and other criminal acts in the state.

He said due to the cooperation enjoyed between the legislative arms and the executive in the state, is helping in discharging dividends of democracy to citizens.

In his remarks, the speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Honourable Aminu Muhammed Acida, commend the governor for bringing the proposal to the assembly on time.

He said the house is delighted with a speech delivered by the governor while assuring that the budget will receive the full attention of the house without any delay.
