2019: Vote for me and get your lost jobs, businesses ― Atiku

THE Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has promised the people of Niger that if they vote for his party and he wins the forthcoming presidential election that he and the PDP-led administration at the Centre will restore the jobs that have been lost.

He gave the promise at the Polo ground, Minna, Niger State capital, the venue of his Presidential campaign flag off on Wednesday alongside the party’s Gubernatorial candidate in the State against the forthcoming general elections Alhaji Umaru Mohammed Nasko.

The former Vice President who addressed the party’s stakeholders and their teaming supporters in both the English and Hausa Languages during his remarks on the podium, said, “So, this is a promise and a commitment I am making on behalf of PDP and if you vote for PDP.  I want to commit to you that if you vote for PDP, the insecurity which they have not been able to control, we shall control it.”

Accordingly, he said: “The President Muhammadu Buhari- led administration has been unable to control insecurity because they have been unable to provide jobs and businesses for the people. So by the time we provide jobs and businesses for our young men and women, you will hear less crime and less insecurity.”

Atiku Abubakar added that: “I want to promise you on behalf of our great party to sack the APC government and let us send them packing. Like I use to say, Buhari must go! APC must go!”

He said: “Let me remind those of you who perhaps was born in 1999 when PDP started governing Niger State. The roads infrastructure that you have in Niger State were constructed by the PDP government. The schools that you have attended were built by the PDP government. The hospitals that you are attending were built by PDP government.

He recalled that: “Then in 2015, they came to tell us that PDP did not do anything. We should change, and we changed. They promised to fight corruption, to improve our economy and also to secure our country.”

Atiku however asked rhetorically that have they achieved any one of these three, stressing that when they came in, there was insecurity only in north-east, while today, there is insecurity in the north-west and north-central.

“We have lost more lives at any other time in the history of this country in peaceful times. They have failed as far as security is concerned.  When it comes to the issue of the economy, We have lost more jobs, over 10 million jobs, to the extent that Nigeria has been declared the headquarters of poverty in the world. This is a record. Have they fulfilled that promise?” he asked.

Also, in his remarks, the Director General of PDP Campaign Organisation who doubles as the  Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, reiterated that, “our campaign will be based always on issues.”

He added that election is about referendum, arguing that a government that has been with us for three and half years and promised us three things. Nigerians will decide if they have performed and if they have not performed, they must pack and go home.”

Dr Bukola Saraki stated further that the incumbent APC-led administration in the country came on security. He said: “There is no security in north central, north-west, there is a security problem. Before, they said they will provide three million jobs for the youth, today more than 10 million youth have lost their jobs, have they performed? No.

“They said they would bring food to our people, today Nigeria is the capital of hunger in the entire world, have they performed?

“They said they will fight corruption, today there is corruption in the country, no be so?

“They have failed on these things and that is why they must leave and let us bring a man that has experience, that knows how to create jobs, that knows how to bring food to all of us. So, people of Niger, it is time we vote PDP and Atiku Abubakar,” the Senate President maintained.

Meanwhile, dignitaries at the event include: immediate past governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu; his counterpart from Kano State and current senator representing Kano Central, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso; former Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Taraki, PDP governorship candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in the state, Umar Mohammed Nasko; Senate Minority Whip, Phillip Aduda among others.
