2019: Usman Alhaji wins NRM Presidential ticket unopposed

THE presidential aspirant of the National Rescue Movement (NRM), Alhaji Usman Ibrahim Alhaji, on Saturday, emerged as the party’s candidate unopposed in the forthcoming 2019 presidential election.

Alhaji Alhaji, who won the party’s ticket at its national convention and presidential primary election in Abuja, said his administration would focus on mainly five major areas to salvage the country from bad economy and leaders.

The five-point projected rescue plan, according to him, are power/energy, industrialisation and employment; education and human capital development; agriculture and food security; as well as enhance critical infrastructure and strengthen institutions and eradication of corruption and enhancement of national security.

He said he firmly believed that Nigeria could not break away from perpetual failure as long as it continues to be governed by one generation of aged leaders with overtaken ideas and poor vision who recycle themselves thereby arresting the development of the country and the natural process of generational transformation of leadership witnessed in the developing and advanced nations of the world.

The presidential candidate stated that the realization energized his courage and determination to aspire for the presidency of Nigeria on behalf of the Nigerian youth whose emergence as leaders has been long overdue, saying he was pleased beyond words to have found in the NRM the perfect habitat for the much desired new generation of leaders to thrive and emerge.

Alhaji Alhaji, therefore, reassured the party leaders and supporters not to focus on exploiting the democratic dispensation for selfish gain, but he would rather use the party’s platform which was known for advancing socio-economic potentials of the country into a beneficial reality for the majority of Nigeria.

Earlier in his remarks, the National Chairman of the party, Senator Saidu Dansadau, who said NRM was the only party who could give Nigerians the type of governance they deserved, challenged the youth to wake up from their slumber and fight for their right.

He said they should not expect power on the platter of cold, and future belongs to them if they could rise against bad leadership who has been ruling for the past 50 years without anything tangible achieved.

Meanwhile, the adoption for his candidature was moved by Abia State party chairman, Chief Eke Udensi and seconded by his Gombe State counterpart, Mr Muhammed Suleiman in which the whole delegates ratified while his running mate, Prince Onwa Nwafor, was also endorsed.
