2019: Tension in Anambra APGA, as aspirants alleged doctoring of delegate list

AS the All Progressives Grand Alliance in Anambra state conducts it’s National and state Assembly primary elections this week, tension has already enveloped the area following the alleged doctoring of the lists of delegates for the exercise.

According to the committee of House of Assembly aspirants led by Mrs Chinenye Molokwu “A’s I speak to you we do not know who the delegates are. The party has a different list of delegates for Assembly different delegates for National Assembly.

“This is a grand plan to impose candidates of their choice and we have It on good authority that some aspirants submitted names of those in their campaign organisations to the party as delegates.’

The original list of delegates have been doctored so we do not have confidence in the forthcoming primary elections’

Similarly, the Ifeanyi Ubah campaign Organisation has accused the governor Chief Wille Obiano of preparing a special list for a preferred candidate of his choice.

Addressing reporters In Awka yesterday Mr Goddy Anowai alleged that”We have been vindicated by the actions of a man who benefited from a free fair and transparent process’

It is sad that this is happening to a political party that professes the idea of being your brother’s keeper. One wonders where the party is heading to. Last time they asked us to step down. Now the list of delegates to the election appears to have been doctored ‘

“The party leadership has not deemed it imperative to invite the aspirants and talk to them about the primary election. They are only busy looking for aspirants to disqualify’

Reacting to the allegations Anambra state governor Chief Wille Obiano in his independent day address contend that it’s an internal party family affair.

Brothers and sisters, in Anambra State, we have established a template for democratic excellence.

We have harnessed the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) into a model democratic platform. We have developed a robust democratic culture that is deeply rooted in brotherhood and progress.

So, as we prepare for our coming party primaries, we must not lose sight of the fact that it is a family affair. Of course, we shall have our usual differences. That is the sole of every democratic culture.

But we must not let our individual differences and political disagreements overrun the great promise of our party. My people we shall settle all our differences in brotherhood, he concluded.
