Ikeyina, who won his senatorial seat under the party in the Third Republic, gave this assurance in Lagos while the party was inaugurating a forum called Democratic Vanguard headed by Audu Mark Audu, put together to mobilise minority groups in the state.
Nigerian Tribune learnt that similar group is also set to be launched across all the states of the Federation.
According to the party chieftain, the essence of the party is to care for all Nigerians and the minorities in the country, declaring that restructuring would be a big step to providing solutions to the country’s woes.
Senator Ikeyina reflected that the country would have been better than it was now if the Third Republic had not been aborted, adding: “This country would have been better than this and we thank God that events have come up and have proven us right that we were on the right track and the best party then.”

Also speaking, the Director of Administration and Strategy of the party, Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse, while buttressing Ikeyina’s view, said SDP would enforce the findings of National Conference on restructuring.
According to him, SDP is more focused at bringing about the social wellbeing of Nigerians and not personal aggrandizement, saying the party was serving as an alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“It (SDP) is an option from Buhari and his APC government that has turned deaf ears to the cries of the people and constantly showing us that we the people do not matter. We will focus on restructuring and not just pay lip service to it. We will not use it to gain a political point. We are already showing the minorities that they have equal right in the party politics,” he stated.
Others present at the event were Prof. Jerry Gana, Chief Supo Shonibare, and Otunba Tunde Onakoya.
