THE House of Representatives on electoral matters is currently holding a crucial meeting with the officials of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) over the N242bn presented to the National Assembly for the funding of the 2019 General Elections.

The INEC team is being led by the Chairman of the Commission, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu at a meeting being Chaired by the Chairman of the Committee, Hon Aisha Dukku

Sources at the meeting holding at one of the Committee Rooms at the New building wing of the House of Representatives said that the Committee queried the whopping sum of over N6billion voted for the feeding of the Police and other Security personnel generally.

The Source said that the Committee reportedly asked the electoral body to justify the need for such a huge budget.

It was gathered that after the meeting, both the INEC and the House Committee would now move to the Senate for another round ‎ of another meeting with a view to approving the budget.
