
AS agitations for the 2019 presidential ticket under the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hots up, North-East Zonal Campaign Organization of the Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo presidential aspiration has denied the insinuations that their principal would step down for any aspirant from the zone declaring that the Gombe State Governor is still very much in the race.
The declaration was made in Gombe by the Zonal Coordinator of the organization, Danlami Ahmed Kawule during a press conference after a crucial meeting it held at the Gombe State Jewel Hotels.
Ahmed Kawule explained that the issue of the Gombe state Governor stepping down for anybody did not even arise during the meeting, more so, the group will not allow that to happen because they have made far-reaching consultations that are giving them positive results.
According to him, the group has over a hundred affiliate groups and has met many influential and a cross-section of the Nigerian masses, stressing that, “we have gone very far in our consultations. We have been appealing to people to allow the North-East to produce the next President more so, because of Dankwambo’s track records in Gombe State and the country as a whole”.
He added that the joint meeting resolved and endorsed Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo for the PDP Presidential ticket of the party because of his pragmatic reformation policies and prudent management of resources in all offices he has held in the country.
The coordinator further said that the organization would soon organize a mega rally of all the supporters and organizations affiliated to the group within the zone and subsequently ensure other zones do same before the final Grand National rally in Abuja.
He then assured that the organization has resolved to commit everything persuasive and politically possible to ensure that the North-East sub-region produce the PDP Presidential ticket and subsequently produce the President of the country in 2019.
