2019: PDP ready to reclaim power, Atiku declares

Published by

NIGERIA’S main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that it is ready to reclaim power and form the federal government come 2019.

The declaration was made in Gombe on Tuesday by the Presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar during the North-East Zonal rally of the party held at the Pantami stadium.

Abubakar stated that the APC led federal government has subjected Nigerians to untold hardship in the last three years pointing out that not one of the campaign promises made to the people has been fulfilled.

He added that “we in the North-East have been neglected by the APC led federal government, we have been ravaged by insecurity, hunger, lack of infrastructure facilities and mismanagement of resources. We remain backwards in the scheme of things in the country “.

Abubakar who addressed the crowd of supporters of the PDP from the states of the North-East in Hausa declared that “it is now time for us to take the stage of the leadership of the country. I urge you all to come out during the elections in 2019 to vote for the PDP at all levels “.

He assured that a vote for PDP to reclaim power in 2019 is an end to poverty, hunger, insecurity and mismanagement of resources which has prompted sectional fighting against corruption in the last three years of the APC led federal government.

Abubakar also used the rally to call on all eligible voters who are yet to collect their PVCs to immediately do so in order to be able to vote in the general elections.

Earlier on, the North-East PDP presidential campaign coordinator, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has described the PDP as the best alternative to the misrule of the APC led administration in the country.

Ibrahim Dankwambo who is the Governor of Gombe state called on people of the region to massively vote for the PDP because according to him it is an opportunity for the region to assume leadership of the country considering the fact that the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar is from the region.

He, however, called on them to eschew any form of violence before, during and after the elections because according to him, there will be a provocation by the people for the PDP members to react considering that people have realized that PDP is the only party that can reposition the country.

The rally was attended by PDP bigwigs from the states of the north-east geopolitical zone and it was a hitch-free exercise well secured by combined security agents who ensured that there was no breach of peace.
