2019: PDP organs meet Tuesday

Published by

ALL national organs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will converge on Abuja Tuesday, for series of meetings to determine the way forward for the party toward 2019, following the resolution of its leadership crisis by a Supreme Court judgment.

Those scheduled to meet are the Expanded National Caucus, Board of Trustees (BoT) and the National Executive Committee (NEC).

Party stalwarts who have been invited to the Expanded National Caucus to take place at its national headquarters, are former presidents and vice presidents; PDP state, governors; NEC members; BoT members; National Assembly members; former PDP governors, former PDP ministers, and all former national officers of the party.

The meeting of the Expanded National Caucus will be followed by that of the BoT on Tuesday morning before that of NEC later same day.

The notice of the meetings signed by the party’s national secretary, Chief Ben Obi and Ambassador Aminu Wali, for the BoT chairman, did not give the agenda of the meetings.

They are, however, expected to deliberate on the court judgment, which reinstated the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee (NCC), fresh reconciliation strategies, congresses and  National Convention to elect substantive national leaders of the party.

After nearly two years of crisis, the apex court last Wednesday removed the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the party and reaffirmed the decisions of the last PDP national convention held in Port Harcourt, which instituted the NCC.
